Welcome to JLG Pewter Craft

Here you will find examples of my work.

Based in the seaside town of Troon, JLG Pewter Craft started nearly a decade ago.  An enjoyable hobby turned into a passion over time and Judith enjoys spending her time finding new ways to express the beauty of pewter.  Many of Judith's designs reflect the local coastal scenery and wildlife whether these are using a repousse technique (hand embossed) or etched pewter.  A strong Scottish influence comes through with many traditional Celtic and Art Nouveau designs which translate well to this technique.

Meet the Crafter

Judith lives on the Ayrshire coast with her family and dog enjoying long coastal walks  and the sometimes rather wild lively weather.  Her design inspirations come from the environment around her but also with a strong influence from the Glasgow Girls including many nods to the Art Nouveau style.

Pewter

Pewter is a lovely metal to work with. Modern pewter is generally an alloy of tin, antimony and copper and all the pewter used in Judith's work is lead free and safe for use with or near foods. This modern pewter tends to be brighter than older pewters which contained lead.  It is a relatively soft metal which lends itself to shaping into intricate  3 dimensional designs.
